Meet Dr Vanco
I love being an orthodontist. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, and the friendships that I’ve built with my patients and their families are one in a million. It has always been my focus to make each patient feel at home when they come to me for treatment, and I work hard to give my patients the attention they deserve. The best part about my job is knowing that I have made a difference in my patients’ lives! I look forward to working with you.
My Background and Education
Dr Con Vanco BDS, D Clin Dent, M Orth RCSEd, MRACDS(Ortho), FRACDS – is a local South Australian Specialist Orthodontist born in Adelaide. He achieved a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from The University of Adelaide and worked as a general dentist for seven years. During this time as a general dentist, Dr Vanco achieved a Fellowship with The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the area of restorative dentistry. This involved very intense examinations and demonstration of practitioner skills at an advanced level. This experience in general dentistry provides Dr Vanco with advanced knowledge on how to integrate orthodontic care with advance restorative and general dental care.
He then went on to obtain a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics from the University of Adelaide to qualify as an orthodontist. He also holds additional qualifications in orthodontics, including: Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the Special Field of Orthodontics. In 2005, Dr Vanco was awarded the MOrth Medallion from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for achieving the highest results in their specialist orthodontic examinations.
Dr Vanco is also involved in several professional societies including the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Society of Orthodontists and is Australian Orthodontic Board Certified. He was previously a member of the Australian Prosthodontic Society and The Australian Society of Endodontology.
One of Dr Vanco’s passions is advancement of the profession with implementation of new technologies, which provide patients with more options and better results. Dr Vanco is South Australia’s first and one of a very small number of Australian Orthodontists, to become accredited as a SureSmile® user. He is also only one of three Australian Orthodontists to be currently accredited for SuresmileQT, a system utilising invisible braces placed on the inside of the teeth.
Dr Vanco was previously involved in teaching as a clinical tutor at The University of Adelaide in the Undergraduate Orthodontic Program, and has lectured at various dental societies and study clubs both here, interstate and overseas.
Dr Vanco enjoys working with people of all ages including adults, adolescents and children.
